The design competition for greeting and birthday cards is designed for students of art, design, and graphic and communication design. This initiative by the Association of Manufacturers and Publishers of Greeting Cards (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Hersteller und Verleger von Glückwunschkarten - A.V.G.) and Messe Frankfurt took place for the fifth time in 2008.
More than 180 designs were submitted on the theme of “The modern greeting and birthday cards” by students in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The jury, consisting of representatives of the A.V.G., the wholesale trade, leading POS trade media and Messe Frankfurt, met at the start of November 2007, to select the nine best of many creative works. The nominated greeting-card designs were shown during Paperworld in the Café Card (between Halls 5.1 and 6.1).
Here visitors to the fair were able to choose their favourites.
Prizes for the most creative greeting-card designs went to:
First Prize: Stefanie Steinle
Second Prize: Anja Gollor and Mirko Merkel
Third Prize: Theresa Bartelmann
The winners of this year’s competition received prize money totalling EUR 3,000.
